How do you end the year? Do you reflect back and see what you’ve achieved or are you thinking about new years resolution already?
Personally, reflection isn’t my favourite thing. However, I was surprised to see that the goals that I wrote a year ago was 80% complete. Now I’m a strong believer in writing down my goals even though I forget about it after a few weeks.
Doodle to Data
Who says doodling is useless? Your doodle can help train neural network!
There's a website called Quick, Draw! You'll draw the objects until the neural network can recognize the drawing. At least 15 million players have contributed to this open sourced training for neural network, which help researchers see patterns in how people draw, and help artists create fresh unthinkable arts. Looking at the dataset, you can see people’s different yet familiar way of thinking.
Saved by Gold Diggers
I went hiking to what was the home of the richest alluvial goldfield in the world. The city retains its heritage and becomes a popular tourist spot nowadays with their beautiful historical buildings.
Me and two of my friends followed one of the hiking trails that promised a scenic walk. It was supposed to be a half day trip, but after 6 hours of hiking we were still inside the woods. We weren’t enjoying the view anymore as one of us was disoriented and water was running out.
There was no way out beside finishing the track which would take us 3 more hours or going back (not an option as it would take 6 hours). We decided to go forward to one of the camping grounds which was 1 hour away in hope of finding water fountain or people to help us. Luckily, there were two guys who camped there to look for gold. One gave us water and the other one was willing to drive us to the city.
Lesson learned: always bring more water and hike with two people or more.
We are forever grateful to Troy our angel 😇
What’s your December plan?
With just under a week before Christmas, how are you planning to celebrate Christmas? For me, it will be the busiest Christmas I’ve ever had.
If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go to celebrate Christmas?
I would visit Banff again. I went there during on Christmas in 2017. It’s a small dreamy town in Alberta, Canada which has movie worthy decors and well established Christmas vibes. Regrettably, I didn’t take photos back then so the magic will live on inside my head. For now, these are a glimpse of Banff from the internet.
